2024 Color of Mitigation

Providing criminal defense mitigation in the city of Fredericksburg, as well as the surrounding counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George. Dareeka previously worked as an investigator in a small office located in Warrenton, VA. With a background in social work and therapeutic counseling, advocacy has been a passion for many years. A native of Virginia Beach, VA, she is the mother of one and wife to her high school sweetheart.  As a therapeutic foster parent and an avid supporter of family and equality, she zealously advocates for those who are unable to do so for themselves.  Overcoming obstacles and knowing oneself as an individual, provides insight to an increasingly realistic outlook on life.  The reality is that it will require an army of us to fight for modifications in legislature for years to come, to see any change that reflects the interests of ALL people. This historical legal system has been designed unfairly and has perpetuated the interests of the majority, with little to no regard to minorities having the same rights that are outlined in laws. The level of prejudice and explicit bias in legal proceedings is a leading factor in what compels some of us to continue to be so fervent.  It is with a great sense of fulfillment that Dareeka joins those like-minded individuals and groups already dedicated to breaking down barriers.  Ultimately, training to be a vessel for change is the goal!
